— Restaurants / GloriaFood shutdown

GloriaFood is shutting down. Move your ordering before it stops.

Oracle has discontinued GloriaFood, the free ordering widget thousands of independent restaurants rely on. New sign-ups are already closed, and when service ends, the order button on your website, your branded app, and your Facebook ordering tab stop working. We move you to ordering you own, without a dead week in between.

169 days until March 31, 2027

Plan for the earlier date.

Most notices put end of service at April 30, 2027. Some reports cite March 31, 2027 for US and UK accounts. Check the date in your own GloriaFood admin and emails, and plan for whichever comes first.

Later date April 30, 2027

What stops working.

  • The “Order online” and “Table reservation” buttons on your website.
  • Your GloriaFood branded mobile app, if you had one.
  • The ordering tab on your Facebook page and the order link on your Google Business Profile.
  • QR codes on menus, flyers, and window stickers that point at GloriaFood.
  • Order notifications on the kitchen tablet or printer.
  • Access to your menu, customer list, and order history once the account closes.

Export these now, while the account still works.

Tick them off as you go. Your progress is saved on this device only.

The four realistic options.

Most “GloriaFood alternative” articles are written by companies selling one of these. We are not tied to any of them. Here is the honest trade-off.

  • Another hosted ordering widget

    Fees
Free to low monthly fee; some charge per order
    Customer list
Usually you, but check the terms
    Switching effort
    Lowest
    Best for
Small menus and owners who want the quickest like-for-like switch.
    Watch out for
The same thing can happen again. Free products get discontinued.
  • Your POS’s own online ordering

    Fees
Monthly add-on and card fees through your POS
    Customer list
    You, inside your POS
    Switching effort
Low, if your POS supports it
    Best for
Square, Clover, or Toast users who want orders in the same system as the counter.
    Watch out for
Menu design and the ordering page are only as good as the POS allows.
  • Delivery marketplaces only

    Fees
Commonly 15–30% per order, depending on the plan
    Customer list
    The marketplace
    Switching effort
    Low
    Best for
Reaching new customers who already browse the apps.
    Watch out for
Your margin and your customer relationship. Good as an extra channel, costly as the only one.

How we move you.

  1. Export and audit

We help you pull everything out of GloriaFood and list every place your ordering link lives, including printed QR codes.

  2. Pick the right option

Based on your order volume, your POS, and who updates the menu. A written recommendation, not a sales pitch.

  3. Build and import

Menu, modifiers, photos, hours, and delivery zones rebuilt and checked line by line. Customers imported with their consent status kept.

  4. Run both in parallel

A week or two with both systems live, test orders through to the kitchen, then the switch, timed away from your busiest nights.

  5. Update every link

Website, Google Business Profile, Facebook, Instagram, and new QR codes for print. Then a short email to your regulars.

  6. Look after it

Menu changes, uptime, and the odd 6pm Friday problem, under ongoing care if you want it.

While you are moving: answer the phone during the rush.

Phone orders still matter, and they arrive exactly when nobody can pick up. An AI receptionist can take the order, read it back, answer “are you open?” and “do you deliver to…?”, and send a pay link by text. It never takes a card number by voice, and it hands anything awkward to a person.

We have built restaurant ordering before.

Peppery Pizza Poutine in Nova Scotia takes online orders on its own WooCommerce site, with a staff-managed menu and 100/100 Lighthouse scores for accessibility, best practices, and SEO. The customer list belongs to the restaurant.

— Questions

GloriaFood questions we get.

When exactly does GloriaFood shut down?

Most public notices give April 30, 2027 as the end of service, and some reports cite March 31, 2027 for US and UK accounts. Oracle has not published a single public page that settles it, so check the notice in your own GloriaFood admin and email, and plan to be moved before the earlier date.

Can I keep my customer list?

Yes, if you export it before the account closes. Keep the marketing-consent status with each contact. Canadian anti-spam law means you should only email people who agreed to it, and the export is how you prove they did.

Is there free online ordering like GloriaFood?

There are free and low-fee hosted widgets, and some POS systems include basic online ordering. Free products can be discontinued, which is how you got here. If ordering is a real share of your sales, owning it on your own site is usually worth the one-time cost.

Will my menu photos come across?

Not always. Some exports do not include images. Download the original photos now and keep them with the menu export.

How long does a move take?

A simple switch to a hosted widget or POS ordering can be done in days. Ordering on your own website with a full menu import takes a few weeks including the parallel run. Starting early means you choose the timing, not the deadline.

Do you only work with restaurants in Nova Scotia?

No. We are based in Halifax and move restaurants anywhere in Canada and the United States. Everything happens remotely, and we coordinate any on-site steps, like the kitchen printer, with your staff.
